MR. TWIGSTER....AND A VENT

Hey all!!! WOW!! Wednesday already - where is time going - I have soooo much to get done for this craft fair on Saturday, lol!!! No sleep until Sunday, heehee!!! So, I finally inked up my Mr. Twigster stamp, he is so very cute, but I had a hard time figuring out what to do with him. So, when I signed up for this Winter Wonderland ATC swap, I figured he was perfect! I did use some non-SU! ribbon because I thought it looked just like snowballs, heehee!! And, of course, no snowman is finished without some bling so I added some dazzling diamonds to make my man shine - LOL! Here is a close-up of the ATC, isn't he cute?! I am lovin' this little guy and see me using him a lot now that I have broken him in! He is already in the mail winging his way to the gals at the Coconut Scrapshop! I will leave you with the recipe below....but first, I must get something off my chest since it has been bothering me since yesterday and I figure if I vent, it will go away!! Yesterday, I went to Chico (about 30 minutes from my home) where all the stores are including Michaels, Joanns, and a scrapbook store that I don't frequent. However, I decided to venture in there yesterday as I am in dire need of some clear card stock for a project I want to do. Anyway, the owner of the store (who has never been really nice) asked me if she could help and I explained what I needed. She told me there was no such thing, but she had some 8x8 sheets of something that might work. So, I looked at them, asked how much they were, she responded $1 apiece, and I said I would take the ten she had figuring they would work. Soooooo, I am wondering around the store, checking out the new arrivals table (hey, I love new stuff just like the next gal!) and found myself picking up several pieces of dsp, some beautiful ribbons, embellies...you get the picture. So, I now have about $40 worth of stuff in my hands, and I am checking something else out when I hear the OWNER OF THE STORE talking to one of her employees about how dumb I am because I don't know what I am talking about, that there is no such thing as clear card stock, and to charge me a $1 for the sheets even though they are only 50 cents, and was laughing and rolling her eyes, obviously not knowing that I could hear her. So, I marched myself over to her, handed her everything I had in my hands, told her I did not need to spend my money in her store, and walked out!! Now, apparently she still has me on her newsletter sign-up because she called me and asked me what happened - so I told her. She had the nerve to lie to me and tell me that she would "talk to her employee about how rude she was" - hah!!! What a joke!! It's such a shame, we don't have a LSS where I live, and this one SUCKS!!!!! So, that's my vent - if you aren't asleep by my whining, I appreciate you letting me get that off my chest - LOL! Here's to online shopping!!!!!! Anyone know a good place where I can order some acetate or clear card stock? heehee.....thanks ladies!!!

That store owner is a witch! I guess she thought you were deaf AND dumb. If you find an on line store that sells the clear card stock, maybe you should email her the link just so she knows that you DO know what you're talking about!

Adorable snowman!!! Love the ribbon. I don't blame you one bit for handing her everything and leaving. She wouldn't get my business. That was just rude. :)

LOL Alex....that lady needs to pull her head out of her butt and get with the times....so glad you walked out!

I haven't bought any but I do know that Flourishes and Cornish Heritage Farms both sell clear cardstock and it's thick. Way better than acetate.

Love your Mr. Twigster ATC cards....fabulous!

First of all, so sorry you had to deal with such a rude rude you know what! Seriously! Some people are just plain mean. Good for you for throwing all that stuff right back at her!

Your ATCs are super cute! Love the snowman and the accents. I'm always amazed at the amount of detail you can fit on one of those. These will be a hit with your swappers! :)

This is super cute card Alex. The people who run my LSS are a bit snobby too but I just go in there when I really need something that I can't get at Michael's or online. I can't believe that she would over charge you though!!! That's just disgusting.

WOW, makes you wonder what went thru people's mind when they had such unexcusable behaviour. Sorry you had to experience that.

Very cute ATCs though. The ribbon does look like snowballs. What a clever idea! And the image is really cute!

Love your Mr Twigster. Super cute!

And store owners really wonder why we choose to shop online? I'm so sorry about your frustrating trip. Good for you for standing up for yourself!
I know CHF sells them. I've never bought them but everything else I've gotten from them is the best, so I would try there!

Big hugs, friend!

Oh that Mr. Twigster is ADORABLE!!!! And OMGosh Alex!!!! It is no wonder our young people sometimes act the way they do when the ADULTS in this world do that!!! And oh my......I'd be shouting out to everyone I know about her!!! And check out some Office supply stores and Xpedx for Acetate. SHE is the idiot who doesn't know about her own crafting business if she doesn't know about clear cardstock!!!!

love those mr twigsters, so cute

Flourishes does sell the clear cardstock in 81/2 x 11 sheets, I think you get 10 or 12 sheets for 5 or 6 bucks. Its super thick not like acetate.
Good for you by walking out, that lady is just plain ol rude!!

Some people are using overhead transparencies from Office Depot or Staples for clear card stock.

OMW! That is AWFUL! Oh, I sooooo would have done the same thing! Oh, oh, I'm so mad FOR you now!

Love mr. twigster, by the way!

Oh my word! I can't believe how awful the store owner was. Yay for you letting her have it. Love your sweet snowmen cards, especially the "snowball" trim.

What a great story!! Good for you! I have found that people in crafting stores, for the most part are so helpful and nice, that one like that would really stand out. I think calling her on what she said was just right. Some times people are their own worst enemies!!

Liked your little guy for the exchange--really cute--also had a nice email this morning from Tamara, with you as their showcased person and a cute card you made. Great job!!

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I don't understand why people have to be so negative.

You can find acetate transparency sheets at Office Depot. They come in a pack of 20 or so.

Very cute ATCs by the way!!

Super cute cards!! Shame on her and good for you for standing your ground. Luckily you don't have my temper or the Dr.'s would still be removing your foot from her butt!!LOL!! Never go back, no matter how desperate you get...

omgoodness so sorry about your terrible experience with that store. Hopefully she learned her lesson!

Love those adorable cards though!

Oh my goodness...I guess we both had rough Tuesdays in the "customer service" department. Yikes, well she lost a loyal customer and I know just how ya feel. The closest scrap store I have is about thirty minutes away as well. Take care and there are good deals online.

Happy Hi Alex! Your Mr Twigster ATC's are cute, cute, cute! I love that little guy.
So sorry to read about your bad shopping experience, but GOOD FOR YOU in standing up for yourself! It's hard to believe that someone like that would be in this business, which is so customer oriented. My guess is that she won't be in business for long. Keep smiling! Pam :)

Love your Mr. Twigster!! He's adorable, and that ribbon is perfect!

What a crappy store owner! I think so many people get into the store business because they love the product, but have no idea how to run a retail store or offer excellent customer service. Most of our stores are gone here in Dallas too, it's such a shame. Anyway, so sorry that happened to you!

How very rude of her. I am so glad that you talked to her and I like the idea that oma stated. I would not have bought a thing either. I hope that you are feeling better now; we are here for you to vent when you need to. I love your cards also.

No one should ever be treated that way...Shame on her! I think you handled it perfectly Alex!....I'm sure she got a surprise..I hope it makes her think twice about the way she treats people.

That's horrible that the store owner would act that way. Wow! How arrogant! Good for you, walking out. She really missed out!

On a better note, I love your Mr. Twigster card! He is so cute! That's a stamp set that didn't really excite me much when I saw it in the mini catalogue, but, as usual, you've made me see the potential! :) Thanks for sharing.

You can by transparency paper in bulk at Office Depot. It's 8 1/2 x 11 though.
