SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY BECOMES FABULOUS FRAMES, LOL!

Hi All!! I wanted to share an altered frame I made for Kayla today - so no layouts, sorry!! I actually made this bases on the SCS way to use it challenge yesterday, which was frames!! And, it also was great for the EIS Friday challenge so I knew I had to get it done, lol! Plus, my daughter has been asking me to make some things for her room, we are redoing it in purples and greens....it is a work in progress!! So, I bought this frame at Michaels for $1 (can you believe that??!!) painted it with white acrylic paint, then distressed it with my sanding block. Then, I went to town decorating!! I used my Tea Party Designer Series paper and cut out bunches of the flowers, then layered them on top of one another and arranged them on the frame. The stamped images are from the set Polka Dot punches - I actually inked them up with my markers so I could make them different colors, I love how they look that way!! I was going for feminine, pretty, but not cutesy....I think I did it because Kayla said she LOVES it, which just thrills me!! I have some other projects in mind for her room makeover as well and now that I know she likes this, I can design around it!! The hard part will be repainting her room - we just painted it a year ago when we moved in and it is orange right now....so lots of work ahead. But, I am glad she picked such a pretty color combination - I mean, hey, it COULD be black, heehee!! That would soooo not be happening *wink* So, today is chore day since I put it off yesterday....lots and lots of things to get done in the house. I hope to have some time to work on some more projects later this afternoon...I really do love having a part of each day for creating!! Thanks so much for stopping by and if you get the chance, please sign in to my followers link, I just added it this week, and it's fun to see everyone in there!! I am also going to be blurfing today as I have to see what you all are up to *wink* Enjoy your weekend all!

TAMARA'S SKETCH CHALLENGE AND A FEW OTHERS!

Good morning all!!! WOW! Here it is, Thursday.....and time for Tamara's sketch challenge!! We are still doing a Blast from the Past where Tamara reaches back and finds a cool sketch and challenges us with a remake! Well, I love it!!! And, I finally inked up a stamp set that I HAD to have, but once I got it, had trouble figuring out what to do with it, LOL!!! Not anymore, this baby is going to see some action for the guys in my life *wink* It's called Hit the Road and it really makes me smile!! This one is going to a friend of mine who is having a birthday soon, he will appreciate it! I cut out the suitcases and then layered them one on top of the other to make my tower, heehee!! The sentiment is not part of the set, but one I made up myself...it just fit him so well, I could NOT resist!!! This sketch is soooo versatile I know I will be using it again, it just fits so many things and you can really do it up, or keep it simple and either way, you can come up with someone fabulous!! So, now you have seen my take, make sure you hop on over to Tamara's site and check out what the other DT gals did for this one - they will ROCK your world with what they have done!! And, if you decide to try this one, make sure you upload your link so that we can check it out and you can get put in for the Friday Spotlight - maybe YOUR card will be chosen!! Can't wait to see what you all create!! Here is the recipe for this one.
Card Recipe:
Paper - Not Quite Navy, Mellow Moss, Whisper White card stock, Sweet Slumber Designer Series Paper
Inks - Stampin' Write Markers (Old Olive, Going Gray, Basic Gray, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, So Saffron), Old Olive Stampin' Pad
Stamps - Hit the Road
Accessories - Mat Stack and paper piercer, ticket corner punch, large oval punch, designer label punch, Jumbo brads
This next card is one I did for this week's SCS sketch - I have never done the sketch before, but wanted to give it a whirl since it looked like a fun one, and, well, I am a sucker for sketches - lol! The sketch was designed to challenge you to use a large stamp so I decided on my Inspired by Nature stamp set which I have not pulled out in awhile but really do love. I water colored directly onto the stamp itself using my blender pens and my stampin' write markers - I like the look it gives!! I also did some sponging to give the image some context. It was fun to play along and there are some fabulous projects over there made with this sketch, you should check them out if you haven't already - I think I will play along more often! Here is the recipe for this one.
Card Recipe:
Paper - More Mustard, Old Olive, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss card stock, Flock Together Designer Series Paper
Inks - Stampin Write Markers (Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Ruby Red), Kiwi Kiss, Baha Breeze, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Pads
Stamps - Inspired by Nature

Accessories - Wide Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, More Mustard narrow grosgrain ribbon, Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, daisy brad, sponge
Today is laundry and grocery day so I will be busy with chores but I sure hope to get some stamping done this afternoon. Kayla went back to school today so the house will be all mine for a little while :-) She is feeling much better although she is still very sore and looks like I should be arrested for child abuse....so many bruises, my poor little girl!! But, she wanted to go back to school, and it will be good for her to get back into her routine!! Thanks for stopping by, I am off to do my errands and blurf some - I appreciate you all for taking the time to visit me!! And hey, if you haven't already, can you add yourself to my followers list? I just added it to my blog, and I love seeing who all comes by!! Thanks and I will be back tomorrow with another Stamp Something Challenge and some exciting news!!

A FEW CHALLENGE CARDS TO SHARE

Happy Hump Day - WOW! Wednesday already, I can't believe it! I guess with the kids out of school on Monday, the week is going by faster. That's fine by me, the weekend will soon be here, lol! I actually got some challenge cards done yesterday and so I am excited to share those with you today! I tried a new sketch challenge (new to me anyway) for the first one - the site is called Friday Sketchers and I thought the sketch was pretty cool so I played along! I used one of my new sets from the Spring Occasions mini catty called Sense of Time - I think the images are beautiful and I have been wanting one with a clock face (thanks SU!) I cut my scallop circle and my big circle using Bigz Dies for my Big Shot, and then cut the clock face out and popped it up on dimensionals. And, the little white dots are just that, dots! SU! does not have white brads (YET!) so I used my white gel pen to improvise! Even my teenage son commented that he thought this card was "cool" so it must be okay - LOL! Here is the recipe for this one!
Card Recipe:
Paper - Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Blush Blossom card stock, Bella Birds Designer Series paper
Inks - Going Gray stampin' pad
Stamps - Sense of Time
Accessories - 1/4 inch circle punch, photo corners Punch, paper piercer, eyelet border punch, bashful blue brads, Clear Circle Bigz Die, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon
This next card uses the sketch from Inspirational Sketches, which is run by my friend Dawn! I have been wanting to play along since she started this site, and just now have had the time - her sketches are fabulous, if you haven't, you should check them out! Yes, this card uses contraband, but I needed to ink up this cute little cupcake! I don't own very many non-SU! stamp sets, but this one I just had to have!! It's from Taylored Expressions and is called A Year of Sweets 2. Isn't that little cuppie adorable? (and yes, I fixed the crooked panel, I was just too lazy to take another pic, lol!) The sentiment is not in that set, but I thought it went perfect so I used it. I am quite pleased with how this came out, and I am sending this out so a very sweet gal who needs some happy mail and loves cupcakes!! No recipe for this one but if you have a question, just ask me and I will do my best to answer it! This last card is for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week. I love Julee's sketches and try really hard to play along every week - seems like I always miss the week when there is something fabulous to win, lol! This sketch was really fun, there are so many things you can do with it. I decided I needed to use my God's Beauty stamp set from the Hostess Level One sets- I love this set because it has a big butterfly in it, and you know how much I love butterflies! I also used quite a bit of Iridescent Ice on this card - all the images are embossed. It really makes the card shimmer IRL and I think if you click on the image, you will be able to see it as well! I wanted something happy and springy so I thought my Tea Party dsp would be perfect! So, there you have my three challenge cards - I felt pretty good getting them done, normally I can manage to squeeze in just a couple! I love to use sketches though, I find it gets my creative juices flowing and often I alter the sketch to suit my needs. Here is the recipe for this last card!
Card Recipe:
Paper - Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Whisper White card stock, Tea party Designer Series Paper
Inks - Regal Rose, Basic Black, Certainly Celery stampin' pads
Stamps - God's Beauty
Accessories - Scalloped Edge Punch, So Saffron Wide grosgrain ribbon, Certainly Celery brads, Versamark, Iridescent Ice, Heat Gun

MAKE YOUR OWN DP!

Hi all!!! Whew! The last two days have been really busy and full of stress!! Thanks to all of you who sent me such sweet emails and little notes asking about my daughter - she is doing fine and is just very sore!! I think she is definitely a little wiser for the experience as well! Helmets are a blessing, but even that did not stop the injuries so I remind all of you - keep a close eye on your kiddos, things can change in the blink of an eye, they did for us!! Thankfully, we can all learn from this!! Now, on to my card!! I belong to a pretty substantial group of Stampin' Demonstrators - in fact, my direct Upline is Kimberly VanDiepen, whom a lot of you know...so you know how totally talented and amazing she is!! If you have never visited her blog, do so - you will not be disappointed!! Well, we have our own group and she asked me if I would post a Mojo Monday challenge for our group each week so that we can inspire each other and get some great ideas - and of course I said yes, I think it's such a fun idea!! Well, this week was my first and so I thought I would share it with you! I challenged the group to create a project that displayed their own dsp made with stamps - no preprinted dsp allowed!! To me, it's one of the fun things about stamping is all the versatility it gives you. So, this is the card I made to provide an example of making your own dp - I used my Doodle Jumbo Wheel and made my own pattern, then shaded and highlighted different parts of it with my stampin' write markers and my white gel pen! Really fun - I had a great time making this!! I am excited to see what these amazingly talented group of stampers come up with! I will leave you with the recipe as today I am spending creating some of my class projects for May - I can't believe it's right around the corner! Thanks for stopping by! Oh, by the way, I added the followers widget to my blog so please sign in there so I can see who all stops by - I think it's a fun little tool!! Have a fabulous day!

WHIMSY STAMPS CHALLENGE - OCCASIONS

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Easter weekend - we certainly had a very eventful one!! I spent eight hours in the ER with my daughter and my niece who were both injured while riding on the ATV at my in-laws house....they lost control and went through a barbed wire fence. Both received multiple lacerations, my daughter injured her arm and neck, is wearing a cast and sling, and will be very sore for about a week. My niece received several cuts to the face and arms, but both girls were able to come home last night and will be fine. I tell ya though, it was a wake up call for all of us - it happened so fast, and was very scary!! So, no kids on the ATVs AT ALL!!! I swear I think I aged ten years! Thankfully it was not more serious because it really could have been. Needless to say, our Easter did not end quite as expected, but they are home safe and with us, and that is what is important! So, now on to my card!!! Today is the very first Whimsy Stamps Challenge - WHOOHOOO!!! I have been very excited about this and could not wait to share!! For the first challenge, we were asked to make an Occasions card, any card that would celebrate something because after all, we are celebrating the start of our Whimsy Challenges!! I decided to make a baby occasions card because I am in love with this new momma duck and her babies, this stamp is totally adorable!! And, a friend just had a baby boy, so this will be perfect for her! I love the Whimsy Duck, look how cute she is!! Just the way she is looking at her babies, totally reminds me of a new mommy!!! And, here is a picture of the inside, using my Sweet Celebrations stamp set which had the perfect sentiment!! So, now that you have seen mine, please make sure you check out the rest of the DT gals by going to the Whimsy Challenges site, you will not be disappointed!! I love the talent of this group and I am thrilled to get to work with them! And, make sure you upload a link of your own take on the challenge so we can all check it out!! Thanks so much for stopping by, I am off now to fill prescriptions for my daughter and to go check on my niece!! Have a fabulous day!
